ARTE Musicverse consisted of four state of the art live dome shows. I directed 18 students in realizing the project as part of a collaboration between TU Berlin and HTW Berlin.
Using Touchdesigner and artificial intelligence, they brought stunning live visuals to the 360-degree dome of the Zeiss-Großplanetarium Berlin. The hour-long live concerts by the four newcomer bands Mogli, Ásgeir, Orbit, and Alice Merton were recorded for ARTE.
MOGLI
To visualize Moglis unreleased album "PARADOX" by finding a common visual language, the students recorded films in 360°, and altered the footage primarily with TouchDesigner and additionally with the help of artificial intelligence. The result were three layers that could be selected through the live show: the real image, a heavily edited version of it, and the generated illustrations, which could be mixed and layered.

ORBIT
The staging begins with a warm, orange gradient at the top of the planetarium, representing the birth of theconcert and evoking feelings of departure and new beginnings. The visualizations evolve further, incorporatingnatural elements such as forests, oceans, plants and even the starry night sky to capture the longing foruntouched nature.
These images create a dreamy atmosphere that blends reality and imagination. The audience is put into a relaxed mood, where they can leave everyday life behind for a moment and embark on a journey to the origins of being andtheir own dreams.

ASGEIR
This groups aim was to unite the dreamy character of Ásgeir‘s music with his connection to his homeland in their visuals. Inspired by the cool colours of his music videos, we created particle visuals that move between concrete visualisations and abstractions of the song lyrics. For example, the energetic track Snowblind is visualised by a raging snowstorm, while Youth is accompanied by spraying rains of colour, their vibrancy visualising the memories of a carefree youth described in the song.

ALICE MERTON
The visual concept "Gateways of Reflection" focuses on the gate as a symbol for the transition from the profane to the spiritual world. The stage with the gate creates a static, deserted place that allows a view of passing landscapes, reinforcing the feeling of loneliness and abandonment. Inspired by the root themes in the songs, the concept combines visual metaphors and nature connection by using AI-generated landscapes as a backdrop. This blend of realism and surrealism emphasizes a transformative experience of self-discovery.
